On the 18th of June, for the third consecutive year Andrejsala hosted Jaunie Jāņi, a modern day pre-solstice party with the participation of the well-known Latvian rock band Dzelzs vilks (Iron Wolf) which also happened to be the organisers of the event. Just like the previous year, the party venue was the former market square in the south end of Andrejsala offering the visitors excellent views of Andrejosta, the landmark spires of the old town’s churches, buildings along Eksporta Street, the River Daugava, and Ķīpsala. Despite the unpredictable weather, several hundreds arrived to experience the wonderfully intimate show that was put on by Dzelzs vilks inviting the audience to prepare well for the upcoming nationwide Līgo festival.
