SIA Jaunrīgas attīstības uzņēmums has completed an analytical study of visual impact as part of the conceptual land use planning for the Andrejsala real estate development.
The objective of the activity was to evaluate the likely impact of future Andrejsala buildings upon the cultural and historic heritage and overall urban landscape of the central and oldest part of Rīga while bearing in mind Andrejsala's location within the protective strip of the Rīga's historic centre, a listed UNESCO world heritage site.
It also offers a neutral perspective on the planned architecture of Andrejsala in terms of its effect on the city skyline due to its height, prominence, character and exact position, which will help with outlining and designing the actual buildings and other structures.
The analysis of visual impact made use of 65 vantage points in various parts of Rīga that are relevant for assessing the effect the new Andrejsala is going to have on the existing urban landscape and ambience, especially on the skyline of Vecrīga and the cityscape viewed across the Daugava.
The analysis of visual impact was commissioned by SIA Jaunrīgas attīstības uzņēmums and executed by SIA Arhitektūras birojs FORMA. The study was embarked upon following a decision made at the 11th meeting of the Rīga Architectural Board on December 14, 2006.
