(June 17, 2008)

Approximately a year ago we were able to report about improvements being made in Andrejsala's north part, a district comprising several interesting landmarks—the former power station, old grain elevator and Krasta railway station—as reflected in the relevant land-use master plans by Rīga's municipal authorities. Some parts of the territory still remain encircled by a fence, but, before long, the area will experience substantial change, making publicly accessible the Daugava's embankment and creating an entirely new and pleasant environment both for business and for leisure activities.

Andrejsala’s “residents”, who are used to move around by car, do not now have to tolerate that boring waiting at the closed railway crossing at the Trade Port’s building in the north of the island. The mid-section of Andrejostas Street, closed before, is now open to traffic.
